17 days after I left Philadelphia, I was now headed home. We did some final gear sorting and prepared for a taxi to the airport. One of the craziest moments of the entire trip happened as I unloaded the taxi. As I was throwing my bags to the ground, I noticed someone sitting on the ground with their Blackberry. He looked awfully familiar, but I thought, no way could that be who I think it is. We proceeded into the airport to check our bags, and I heard someone yell "Tyler", which confirmed my recognition. It was Tyler Wren, from back home. He was here for the Tour de San Luis UCI road race with his team Jamis-Sutter Home. At first he didn't recognize me, but we chatted a bit and were off. Small, small world.
As we waited in line to board the plane with many other climbers, we discussed our adventures. A pair of climbers in front of us told us of the misfortune they had as the summit winds were to high for them to make it to the top. They did mentioned how they spotted three climbers on the glacier. The day matched up, the description matched up...and we told them we think it was us. She blew up the picture on her little point and shoot camera that uncovered three dots on the glacier that was in fact us. This was a great image to be left in our heads for the flight home.
